If you want to experience exciting outdoor adventures through exhibits, hands-on activities, and simulators, head to the DNR Outdoor Adventure Center. Located in Detroit’s Globe Building, this center is known for bringing outdoor fun indoors, and it’s enjoyed by kids and adults alike. Exhibits include:
Michigan’s Rivers and Lakes – Did you know that Michigan has more freshwater shoreline than any other state? You’ll learn other interesting facts as you explore this exhibit, as well as use simulators to fish, kayak, canoe, paddle board, and ride a wave runner.
Underwater Michigan – Fishing brings an impressive four billion dollars to the state’s economy every year. This exhibit explains how the DNR enhances, protects, and rehabilitates the different fish populations, and helps you identify the 154 fish species who call Michigan home.
Waterfall and Underwater Mine – This unique exhibit allows visitors to wander through an underground tunnel to learn more about Michigan’s geology and the natural resources that are found underground. It also offers a scenic waterfall that you can walk behind and touch.
Airplane – DNR in the Sky – Step inside an airplane to see how the DNR uses planes to battle wildfires and keep track of animals, such as elk and moose.
Overnight Camping – If you enjoy camping, be sure to visit the Overnight Camping exhibit. It includes a yurt furnished with bunk beds and you’ll discover all of the amazing ways you can spend the night in one of Michigan’s state parks.Back to all posts
