For the last twenty years, Labor Day Weekend has brought an event that features unique works of art, lively music, and delicious food.
We’re talking about Ford Arts, Beats & Eats, and it takes place in downtown Royal Oak.
It attracts large crowds and is best known for offering one of the top juried fine arts shows and well-known musical acts.
This year’s highlights include:
Fine Art Show
With its reputation, the Fine Art Show is often packed. It’s nestled on the festival’s southern edge and showcases artists from across the country who work in mediums such as pastel, glass, and metal. Shoppers are certain to find great pieces to display in their homes.
With more than forty of the best restaurants in the Metro Detroit area on-site, Ford Arts, Beats, & Eats is one of the country’s premier taste festivals. Whether guests want to enjoy a full meal or a tasty dessert, there is truly something for everyone. Restaurants include Big Mike’s Mexican Grill, Greenspace Cafe, and Lazybones BBQ.
The festival features several stages, and performers include:
The Whiskey Charmers – The Whiskey Charmers is a Detroit area band that’s led by Lawrence Daversa and Carrie Shepard. They released their first album in 2015 and were nominated for a Detroit Music Award in the Outstanding Americana Recording category.
Thornetta Davis – For more than fifteen years, Thornetta Davis has entertained audiences with her R&B tunes. Crowned “Detroit’s Queen of the Blues” in 2015, she has won more than thirty Detroit Music Awards and opened for legendary artists such as Gladys Knight.
Gia Warner – Gia Warner is a talented singer who won “Outstanding Americana Vocalist” at the Detroit Music Awards in both 2015 and 2016. She writes many of her own songs and her voice has been featured on commercials for NBC and Ford.
