Try Nepalese Food at Momo Cha

Try plates of Nepalese food at Momo Cha.

Have you ever tried Nepalese food before? It’s definitely not the most common cuisine in the Dearborn area, but it’s approachable, delicious, and deserves a spot on your must-try list. Momo Cha, a new Nepalese restaurant near Fairlane Woods Apartments, is serving delicious Nepalese dumplings and other snacks.

About Momo Cha

Momo is a Nepalese word for dumplings, the mainstay of the restaurant’s menu. The owners of the restaurant place an emphasis on using locally sourced ingredients and eco-conscious materials whenever possible. The food they create honors the traditions of Nepal and its mountainous terrain, featuring ingredients like tomatoes, lentils, and fenugreek.

Chef Lama and his wife, Louisa, have decades of experience preparing Nepalese cuisine. Step into the little restaurant, and they’ll make you feel right at home. You order at the window, and your food will be ready a few minutes later. Dishes are served in cardboard boats, but they’ll happily wrap up your meal to-go upon request.

The Dishes

If it’s your first time, you absolutely have to try the momos. They come in orders of four or six. These little dumplings have a tender shell and are stuffed with your choice of chicken, pork, or vegetables. You also get to choose your chutney for dipping. The tomato cilantro is a classic option. They make it with roasted tomatoes, and the mint cilantro chutney is also delicious. You can enjoy your momos steamed, pan-fried, or deep-fried.

In addition to momos, the restaurant also serves a few other Nepalese dishes, such as chicken choila. This grilled, free-range chicken has chilis, garlic, onion, and turmeric for a flavorful experience.

Momo Cha is located inside the Detroit Shipping Co., so you can get some shopping done at the same time. If you’re craving something sweet, stop by these bakeries for fresh cinnamon rolls. Stop by soon, and contact us if you are looking for a new apartment in Dearborn.
