Enjoy the Detroit Symphony Orchestra From Home

watching the symphony

After a long day, there’s nothing better than relaxing with some great music. If that sounds good to you, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) offers ways to watch and listen from home. Here is a sample of what you can enjoy from our apartments in Dearborn:

DSO Replay

The DSO’s Live from Orchestra Hall webcast series offers on-demand archival performances. Featuring dozens of videos, you can watch the musicians as they perform everything from the time-honored classics to John Williams Suite from “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” The original broadcasts reach over one million Michigan households, and new videos are frequently added.

Newest Releases on iTunes and Apple Music

Listen to some of the orchestra’s newest releases on iTunes or Apple Music. One of the highlights includes John Williams’ Series of Concertos featuring  Robert Williams and the other principal musicians. A bassoonist with the orchestra since 1974, Robert has been a featured guest artist throughout the United States. He’s heard on several of the DSO’s recordings and was once a part of the music faculty at Michigan State. When Robert’s not performing or making reeds, you’ll find him riding his bike around Detroit.

Summer Sessions Watch Parties

Held on Thursday evenings, the Summer Sessions Watch Parties feature a “live” concert and allow viewers to interact with other fans. A few of the musicians host the festivities on the orchestra’s Facebook page. You never know what you’re going to hear, and they answer questions and offer insight into the music.

If the orchestra’s performances inspire you to play an instrument, several of Dearborn’s music schools offer online classes for all abilities. Learn the guitar, trumpet, and so much more. To become a resident of Fairlane Woods, please contact our leasing staff. They will offer a tour where you can see firsthand the amenities and floor plans that our Dearborn apartments have to offer.
