After enjoying a cold day outdoors, there’s nothing better than warming up with hot chocolate. But you don’t have to stick with the grocery store packets when you live in Fairlane Woods Apartments. If you would like to enjoy a cup, head to one of the following restaurants with hot chocolate where you’ll find everything from classic flavors to creative options.
Garrido’s Bistro & Pastry
Garrido’s Bistro & Pastry is a European-style bistro where the food is always fresh. The service is always friendly, too. The menu changes throughout the year, and it features dishes from European and Latin American countries. The restaurant is famous for both its arepas (Venezuelan round corn flatbreads) and extreme hot cocoa.
This extreme hot cocoa comes in a towering glass full of hot chocolate and topped with cream. The glass is also filled with skewers of marshmallows, donuts, and even waffles. When you’re really in the mood for hot chocolate, come here for the hot chocolate of a lifetime.
When Joanne Czerny decided to combine her interests in art and coffee, Fourteen East was born. The cafe’s cozy atmosphere comes complete with table seating and changing art exhibits. It’s a fun place to meet friends. Come here for the hot chocolate just like Grandma used to make. It features handmade truffles, and you can also try to taste a secret ingredient melted into the steamed milk.
Nestled on West Grand Boulevard, Detroit’s City Bakery is the company’s first location outside of New York. Founder Maury Rubin became passionate about baking in 1986 after attending a six-day pastry course in France. He has established fifteen bakeries since 1990. The New York Times once called him “a bakery impresario.” City Bakery is famous for its thick hot chocolate, which Maury states is based on great melted chocolate. The bakery features a different flavor each day. The menu also includes cookies, sticky buns, and pie tarts.
In addition to these restaurants, Fairlane Woods is also near top shopping destinations and fun cultural attractions. This includes the Polk Penguin Conservation Center, where you can check out the penguin exhibits and work up an appetite for that hot chocolate.
