But this year, take a break from the standard routine! Trot on over to Detroit’s Strategic Staffing Solutions Turkey Trot this Thanksgiving Day. It’s just a short drive to the city from Fairlane Woods. As an area tradition for the past thirty-five years, the Turkey Trot draws thousands for a fun-filled street race… with costumes!
Register for a Turkey Trot Race
There is more than one way to Trot. You can do the 1-mile, 5K race, the “Cranberry Combo” (1 mile + 5K), or the 10K. If you really like to run, try the”Drumstick Double” (a 5K + 10K). Fees range from $24 to $64, depending on the day you register and the type of race you’re registering for. There is a cap on race participants, so register today! Want some gear? Ready to get pumped up? A pre-race expo will take place on Thanksgiving Eve. There will be merchandise and free samples at the ready! Catch more of the expo starting at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving, then head to the Costume Contest Judging at 6:30 a.m. Watch those early morning turkeys strut their stuff!
Get ready to be surrounded by thousands of excited racers! The energy at the Turkey Trot is truly contagious; if you haven’t done it before, you’ll likely remember it for a lifetime. The 10K and “Mashed Potato Mile” both start at 7:30 a.m. The “Stuffing Strut” 5K will commence at 8:30 a.m.
People pushing strollers are allowed, with a recommendation to start at the back of the pack.
